The Phoenix Brief - 10th March 2024

Switcheroo time

Well played the Phoenix Women this week, and please note the Phoenix Men’s game scheduled for Wellington on Good Friday and has been moved back to Easter Sunday. It’s all to play for now for both teams as we enter the last few games of the regular season with plenty of Wellington action coming up.

The Weekend Past

The Phoenix Men played their typical composed, disciplined away game versus Melbourne City but this time failed to score one of those fast breakaways we’ve come to know and love and ended up losing 0-1. Big shout out to David Ball for being fouled about 100 times during the game. And to the A-League for moving the game back two hours, but it was still 35C!!

The men are still top, but if Central Coast win on Sunday they go top, there are 27 games in the season and the top 6 go into play-offs:

Also:

The Phoenix Women meanwhile broke their run of away defeats with a 3-1 win away at Perth in the long distance derby, with Macey Fraser scoring a spectacular 3rd goal and fellow starlet Alyssa Whinham scoring & creating:

The women are 9th with 4 games to go, 3 of them in Sweet Home Porirua, could they still sneak into that 6th spot?
