The Phoenix Brief - 20th May 2024
Sack the Coach!
Just joking with the sub-title, what a season it’s been! Chiefy should be given the freedom of the city for what he has achieved with a young squad sprinkled with a few veterans; if we can keep most of that squad, we’ll be well placed for next season.
We’ve enjoyed doing the Phoenix Brief, we will be amping it up next year and promoting it more now we’ve got into a flow, so until we post again, thank you for reading!

The Weekend Past
The Phoenix Men played at home in front of a massive 33,000+ crowd at the Sky Stadium versus Melbourne Victory in the 2nd leg of the Play-Off Semi-Final. Typical of all the matches this year between these teams, it was tight and close, with few real chances but Victory took theirs, we didn’t, so we end up losing 1-2 after extra-time. BUT, who will ever forget that roar when Zawada scored in the last second of normal time to send the game into extra-time!?
In the other semi-final, Central Coast drew 0-0 with Sydney to go through 2-1 on aggregate that means they host the Grand Final versus Melbourne Victory next weekend.
