The Phoenix Brief - 26th Nov 2023
Two Games, Two Wins
Hello everyone, below the weekly brief, I’m writing this in freezing Chicago, and some of the Stuff links below are acting weird - but the YouTube links are fine. Enjoy and please do let me know if there’s anything you want added to these briefs.
Upcoming Games Live in Wellington
Saturday 9th Dec 7.30pm, Sky Stadium, Men v Newcastle Jets
Sunday 10th Dec 4.00pm, Porirua, Women v Melbourne Victory
NB: Saturday 23rd Dec, Sky Stadium is a double header, 2.45 (W) & 5.30pm (M)
The Weekend Past, Goodbye Auckland
The Phoenix men beat Melbourne City 1-0 in likely their last “home” game in Auckland. David Ball played up front as top scorer Oskar Zawada was injured, but Bulgarian international Kraev scored the goal but then gave away a penalty which our young keeper, Alex Paulsen saved - he had another outstanding game. The Phoenix men are unbeaten in 5 games and equal top (at time of writing), enjoy these saves:
The Phoenix women also won up in Auckland versus previous top team Perth Glory, coming from behind to win 2-1 with some classic football goals from both teams. The Phoenix women are 3rd in the table after 5 games.
Games Next Weekend
Saturday 2nd Dec 7.30pm, Western United v Phoenix Men (in Victoria)
The Phoenix women have an international break, with the Football Ferns playing Colombia.
