Aaargh - So Close
Aaaaargh!! So close, and yet so far. 3 games to go for the Phoenix Men, and level top now with Central Coast after defeat away to them at the weekend. Let’s get to Sky Stadium on Friday night, 12th April, 7pm for the game versus 3rd placed Melbourne Victory, we have to win to keep the trophy dream alive!!
The Weekend Past
The Phoenix Men played away at Central Coast on Saturday evening in a balmy 27C. It was an intense, high-class and tight encounter but the Phoenix lost 2-1 in a game which followed the usual Phoenix pattern: superb defense and fast counter-attacks. The Phoenix goal was a superb move involving zillions of passes, but Central Coast sneaked a winner right at the end. Good game with two excellent teams.
Central Coast now go above us on games won (14 versus 13) with just 3 games to go for each team. Phoenix play Victory this Friday, Newcastle away, and then 5th placed Macarthur at home to finish off the usual season, then we’re into play-offs:
