Dogs and Rockets
The two most shareable (spoiler) moments from the Phoenix games this weekend:
Annalie Longo’s dog interrupting play as it ran onto the field!
Hideki Ishige’s rocket of a free-kick – a contender for goal of the round.
The Weekend Past
The Phoenix Men …
Respond emphatically to the disappointing derby result with a huge 3-0 win, away, against current Champions, Central Coast Mariners. Playing with lots of confidence and a tonne of flair; we are starting to see glimpses of what Coach Italiano was promising in the pre-season.
Ishige is quickly becoming a favourite, his contributions this weekend, 1 goal, 2 assists.
The Phoenix Women …
Follow a similar storyline as last week… This time in the Clash of the Capitals, Canberra scored early. It took some time for the Women to ground themselves, and when they did, they couldn’t find the back of the net, despite dominating the possession and the shot metrics.
