The Phoenix Brief – 11th December 2024

Diverted and Delayed

Firstly, Auckland Away was an absolute fantastic experience, the whole spectacle; before, during and after, was an all time top tier experience. Unfortunately we were outplayed, and then to rub salt in the wounds, flights couldn’t land back in Wellington on the Sunday and we got sent back to Auckland…

The Weekend Past

The Phoenix Men…

Playing away in Auckland in-front of a sold out crowd was incredible. The fans from both sides were loud, and the stadium is perfect for football viewing. It was a very physical game, both teams wanting bragging rights. But it was Auckland who were triumphant again. Kosta Barbarouses, and the Phoenix, are the first team to score against Auckland (after 6 games!) which made for an entertaining final 15minutes. Game ending 2-1.

The Phoenix Women…

Are back to winning ways! Playing at home, in very windy conditions, it was always going to be a tough day out. Highly rated Brisbane Roar managed to equalise at halftime, but it was Annalie Longo with her brace that secured all 3 points.
Back-to-back wins lifts the Phoenix to 7th place on the table.
