The Phoenix Brief – 17th February 2025
Tough games away
Both teams played in difficult away games, the Men at AAMI park where the curse continues, and the Women playing in Perth.
All eyes are on the new Men’s signing and the impact he can play against Auckland FC.
The Weekend Past
The Phoenix Men…
Lined up with 7 defenders for the game against Victory… An interesting tactic that unfortunately didn’t pay off. The Nix went down 1-0. However we did look much better with Alex Rufer made his return after 48 days without an appearance.
Also:
The Phoenix Women…
Kicked off at 10pm NZ time—always a tough match for jet lag. An eventual own goal gave all three points to Perth as the Women struggled to find their way back into the game. The game finished 2-1, and marked more points that were not taking while away.
