The Phoenix Brief – 24th February 2025

A season of bright sparks

There’s not a lot to say after the weekends performance. We looked positive for the opening 20mins, and new signing Chico played some brilliant touches to find space and open the game up.

The Weekend Past

Auckland is the real deal huh. 6 pretty spectacular goals made the Phoenix look dreadfully unorganised. Fortunately we are still mathematically able to make the top 6, but it’s going to need a lot of points from the remaining games. Here’s the positives we take into the remainder of the season:

  • Marco Rojas is back earlier than expected

  • Alex Rufer got fired up

  • Luke Brooke-Smith scored a goal, the youngest every Nix goal scorer

  • Chico might just be the transitional player we lack
