The Phoenix Brief – 30th December 2024
Last Games of 2024
A 2-1 win and a 2-1 loss to close out 2024.
The Weekend Past
The Phoenix Men…
Played in front of a smaller home crowd over the festive season, and may have delivered some of the best goals of the season. Kosta, with goal number 99 in the early minutes of the game, scored an outrageous goal from the half way centre circle. Check out the highlights for this goal alone. While the result was positive, it was the Jets who looked the more likely to fly away with the points. An important 3 points secured.
The Phoenix Women…
Playing away to top of the table Melbourne City was always going to be a tough ask. The Nix went into the half time break 1-0 up courtesy of Fergusson, but the class of City was shown with 2 goals in as many minutes in the midway through the second half. Despite not having much possession, the Women had more shots on target but just couldn’t capitalise.
